Say hello to the ultimate sophisticated sports-inspired bedroom! With a calming colour palette and tailored furnishings, this room feels refined while offering lots of youthful personality for a mega basketball fan.

I never shy away from having fun with mixing patterns, and this project is no exception. While maintaining a cohesive colour palette, we combined multiple striped patterns shown in the wallpaper, textured rug and custom bench cushion to create lots of interest. It’s playful and tasteful without feeling “too matchy” — my signature touch! I wanted the overall vibe of the room to feel slightly moody, so we had the existing white built-ins sprayed in the most beautiful warm grey colour, BM Rockport Gray. The walls, ceiling and trim were also warmed up to keep everything feeling soft and complementary. The sage green, grey and dark blue color palette creates a rather calming backdrop; something this teen can grow into for many years to come.

We opted for black sconces and a burlap flush mount light to coordinate with the other black hardware elements in the room… every last detail was carefully considered when dreaming up this room design. We re-purposed an existing desk and sourced matching walnut night stands to flank a modern upholstered bed and even created an art installation above the headboard by mounting coordinating basketballs on the wall — this might be my favourite feature of the room! Childhood heirloom pieces and book collections fill the built-in shelves and a cozy bench cushion offers the perfect spot for reading and hanging out with friends. This room is nothing short of a slam dunk!
