What was once a monochromatic toddler room is now an ethereal and whimsical space this sweet girl can grow into over the next decade! As with all of my projects, I first started planning out the room layout to ensure we were checking off all the boxes in terms of function; full-sized bed, large dresser, bookcase and window bench… check!
For the feature wall, we chose a beautiful white oak upholstered canopy bed with a scalloped nightstand, which both sit perfectly against the chinoiserie wall mural featuring citrus trees, birds and swirling butterflies. We added a custom window bench with storage drawers and an open cubby, to provide a spot for reading and hanging out with friends, as well as a white spindle bookcase to display special collectibles and books nearby. Across the room, we added a wide dresser with a beautiful gold mirror and large floor bins to store away soft toys! I wanted to highlight the tall coffered ceilings, so we selected a special beaded ceiling light that coordinates wonderfully with the bed.
Textiles are always such a huge component of my room designs because they provide an opportunity to carry through a colour story while adding contrasting textures to the space. We selected a dusty rose wool rug with a soft checkered pattern, lavender linen bedding and green scalloped linen shams, a custom high performance fabric bench cushion and several unique decorative cushions. I just love how elegant, soft and sophisticated the room now feels!
“Rebecca, thanks so much for your talent, support and impeccable advice. The room is incredible, a space that will live and grow with her, and become part of her memories. Thanks so much.”
