What started out as a dark and cluttered basement playroom, is now a purposeful and extra imaginative space! After replacing the existing carpeting with a beautiful laminate flooring we got to work on putting together a bright and natural design, with soft pops of mauve and gold. The playful neutral palm tree wallpaper was the perfect addition to bring some interest above the wall ledge. I love how the animal art print works with the wallpaper, it creates such a beautiful moment of contrast.
It’s always so important to identify designated zones within a playroom. First, we created a dress-up corner with closed bin storage and a peg rail for hanging princess dresses! We also incorporated a lounging spot with a kid’s sofa for watching TV, as well as a little arts & crafts corner for these blooming artists.
We grounded the space with a large area rug which provides ample play space in front of the closed toy storage unit. With 3 kids and several different interests, we had to ensure they had lots of room to spread out with their favourite toy collections. We even fixed up the storage space under the stairs to create a secret nook with adorable sunshine wall decals and a muted yellow light fixture. With a few book ledges near by, this truly is the perfect kids reading spot.
The pièce de résistance is definitely the custom climbing wall by Movement Rooms! We worked with Emily and her team to customize this corner with monkey bars, gym rings, a sensory swing and rope wall. It’s exactly what these little monkeys needed to encourage active play.
