We started off with some pretty stellar key furniture pieces in this room, but it was in dire need of better space planning and an updated design! So we flipped the bed around to optimize the room layout, installed a stunning plaid wallpaper as an accent wall and layered in a vintage-inspired moss green rug. These elements were the jumping off point for the entire design, which is now super cool and cozy.
To play up the geometric pattern on the walls, we opted for a striped jersey sheet set — this really helps to further solidify the colour story in the room as well. The chamois bean bag adds beautiful texture while the linen drapes tie in perfectly with the existing canvas tent bed.
For this avid little LEGO lover, we created a designated nook with a low coffee table, smart storage organizers and acrylic book ledges to display special masterpieces! This spot could easily transition into a study zone down the line with a taller desk and swivel chair. Thinking long term is always so practical when it comes to designing kid’s spaces.
I wanted to bring a bold edge to the room, so we added in some contrasting black accents, like a super playful dog art print, black and rattan table lamp and a metal mirror. Plus, we had just enough space next to the bed for a bookcase to house smaller toys, collectibles and books.
I can’t be the only one going mad for plaid! It just goes to show how a simple room design and smart space planning can completely transform a space! Be sure to check out my instagram highlights to see the before shots and the full video tour of this stellar room.
