One of the most exciting parts about designing a kid’s room from scratch is having the opportunity to bring an original touch to the space. While working through the initial concepts for this little girl’s nursery we were very inspired by a particular wallpaper from Anthropologie. My clients were understandably hesitant about the commitment of wallpaper so I put my thinking cap on and drew inspiration from the shapes, style and colour tones that we mutually loved. We customized a set of botanical wall decals in peach, taupe and black… the result is even better than we could have imagined and they add just the right amount of impact to the room! Installing them in an evenly spaced pattern almost gives the illusion of wallpaper; one of my tried and true techniques when working with decals.
It was important to keep the nursery bright and fresh while still making it feel cozy. So we added in a few textural pieces, like a boucle storage ottoman, oatmeal glider and rattan accents. I love how these pieces complement the weathered white crib and dresser set perfectly. A few contrasting details were sourced to bring a more contemporary vibe to the space — a black and white ABC rug layered in front of the crib, acrylic book ledges next to the glider and a large gunmetal mirror hung above the dresser.
When it came to choosing an accent colour we focused on a few peachy pink accents; like a striped crib sheet, almond mudcloth swaddle, adorable soft toys and other decor pieces. I’m always enamoured by the beauty of a delicate mobile hanging in front of an accent wall and this swan mobile with pink floral detailing is the perfect touch. I absolutely adore how this nursery turned out… it truly is just peachy!
