This project is the perfect example of what it looks like to repurpose existing items into a new room design; the floor bed, night stand, dresser, mirror and bean bag were all products my client wanted to reuse from their old home! So, we tied it all together with a cohesive colour palette to create a sweet and timeless space.

We picked a soft pink and grey colour story and integrated some brighter pops of blues and pastels through accessories and toys. It was important for the space to have a sense of maturity to it while still offering loads of fun! And who says you can’t mix bunnies and ballerinas? It’s no secret that I love mixing patterns and adore how the stylistic elements from the wallpaper coordinate perfectly with the vintage-inspired rug and sheet set.

We updated the existing millwork with a fresh coat of paint (OC-27 Balboa Mist) and antique brass hardware. A beige desk chair and bulletin board complete the study nook, which my mini client will be able to grow into over the years. We added a small bookcase next to the bean bag to create a reading corner — I love that this could evolve overtime by swapping the bean bag for a larger armchair! Finally, we added cordless fabric roman shades for a sleek look.

What was once a dark and dated carpeted bedroom, is now a bright whimsical haven!
