As soon as I laid eyes on the slanted walls in this upstairs loft playroom, I knew I wanted to wrap the room in wallpaper. And this rylee & cru garden botanical print was the perfect fit. From there, we built up a warm golden and mauve colour palette and incorporated lots of of interesting wood tones and textures; like an oak coffee table that doubles as a kneeling activity table, a tiered cane ceiling light and wall mounted BESTA unit from IKEA with beautiful slatted style doors. We repurposed and repositioned my client’s existing lounge sofa and filled it with a fun mix of cushions; I adore the estelle floral print and velvet yellow star cushions.

The purpose of this secondary upstairs playroom was to provide a cozy space for watching movies, reading books and for quiet play with a select amount of toy collections. I always love included a mix of closed and open storage in my playroom designs to give families the opportunity to neatly hide away toys while also giving children the opportunity to easily access and see some of their favourite toy collections!

Other features of the room that I adore are the wave book ledges, the bright pink Oliver Jeffers world map art print, felted daisy garland and of course the dusty pink canopy! We even swapped out the existing roller shades for something a little more elegant; a Belgian flax linen roman shade.

The outcome is a bright, happy and very cozy space the entire family can enjoy hanging out in — hello sunshine!
