Often times, clients are intimidated to mix patterns. But when your client 100% trusts your vision and expert advice, you get a room layered in custom striped curtains and jersey bed sheets, a checkered rug and wall banner and a super playful jungle print wallpaper. And these are the thoughtful elements that give this room so much interest.
When it came to the colour scheme, we drew inspo from the rich shade of blue in the cubby bookcase — this helped us hone in on a navy, teal and brown palette to create something really special. I love how the colour story brings a cool factor to this toddler’s room, making it a space he can grow into over the years.
Though the room was small, we were still able to provide this little fella with lots of open floor space by opting for a twin oak spindle bed. This left room for our blue bookcase and bean bag, which creates the perfect quiet play nook. And since the room didn’t have a closet, we tucked a PAX wardrobe from IKEA in the corner, outfitted with hanging rails and drawers to avoid the need for a dresser.
And we can’t forget about all the sweet little details that play off the overall room design, like the rusty-tone bean bag, fun knit monkey toy and checkered wall banner. The end result is definitely a room that evokes an ‘elevated cool feeling’ all while being playful and fun for a toddler!
