This project is a little different than usual because it’s more of a room upgrade than anything. Back in 2021 we designed a sweet and dreamy nursery with this iconic cloud wall mural applied along the slant of the ceiling. Last year, the family welcomed a baby girl which meant moving the crib, glider and dresser into her new nursery (project reveal for this space is coming next)! This little fella was ready for a big boy bed so we simply re-worked the space to function better for his current needs, all while maintaining the same overall design and colour scheme!

Since the room isn’t large, we positioned the upholstered twin bed along the feature wall to maximize floor space in the centre of the room for play. My client opted for the additional trundle, which will come in handy for sleepovers down the road. I sourced a simple 3-drawer dresser with a new mirror (we moved the existing mirror to baby sister’s nursery as well), and even had room in the corner for a linen armchair the family already had! This little guy is at the perfect age to play independently in his room after nap time, and although he already had a tall bookcase we added extra cubby shelves to house more of his favourite toy collections and books.

We did end up switching out the existing area rug to a hand-loomed neutral wool rug to soften things up a bit, and added jeep art prints to reflect his current interests! It all came together so effortlessly because the initial design was so thoughtful. Just goes to show that a timeless design has legs to last, even with a few new pieces of furniture! The space still evokes the same feeling, it’s just been updated to meet growing needs. Be sure to check out the initial nursery project to see the progression of this special space. Nothing but blue skies here!
