Wallpaper isn't just for walls! In this project, we decided to accentuate the ceiling with a subtle checkered wallpaper in the most beautiful shade of blue. Wallpapering a ceiling is such a simple way to instantly add interest to a room.

Since the room had 4 pot lights without a center light fixture, I decided to just work with what we had! So we swapped out the pot lights with unique flush mounts to highlight the ceiling even further. The custom dual-tone flush mounts we selected make me think of little moons perched up in the sky and I truly adore how this vision all came together.

The overall colour palette brings together soft blues, ivory and grey with a mix of whitewashed and light wood tones to warm things up. My room designs aren’t complete without a little pattern play, so you’ll notice cute checkered and striped accents in some of the storage baskets, cushions and a cozy floor pouf. It was important to my client that I incorporate a quiet play area in the room as well, so we chose my favourite IKEA cubby shelf to store away books, trucks and toy collections. A boucle lounge chair paired with a wood side table and pleated floor lamp creates the perfect bedtime reading spot for the family. Lastly, I sourced some adorable illustrated vintage airplane and car art prints for this transportation obsessed toddler.

We planned out the room so that it could also easily adapt overtime; the idea will be to swap out the crib for a daybed placed against the feature wall, which means nothing else will need to be moved around! Longterm space planning is always such an integral part of my design process — there’s nothing more important than creating a room that can still function for several years down the line!

“Thank you again for everything. We found the whole process of working with you to be so easy and effortless and have been raving about you to our family and friends.”
